Fit in the park

Thanks to the fit in the park program, I have got fitter, stronger and leaner. I like the chain of different exercises (each 30 sec. to 1 min) and I never got bored. This program has challenged me and has given me renewed focus on my fitness and my health.” - K.

"Thanks for a wonderful kick off this morning!  I thoroughly enjoyed myself and look forward to every Monday morning...of course I will also get my 2 extra runs in during the week!  Nice little pep talk as well...not stopping and not giving up!!! Thanks for pulling this all together and for taking the time for others...means a lot to me!" Start to run

"I decided to participate  for a few reasons.  I really needed to do this for myself.  I needed to start looking after ‘me’ and this was the perfect opportunity.  It is also a wonderful way to meet others from the ASP Community.

The biggest hurdle was at first to put my mind at rest that I could do this! Once I managed to get the first few runs/walks behind me I knew I could accomplish this goal!

Running with these wonderful motivating women has kept me going...and also the completion of my goal. I am not a quitter and the only way I would not achieve this is if I was injured...I feel great! I have more energy and this is another accomplishment from running.  Karlijn also is great motivator, constantly giving us tips!

My result is on-going! I have/can run 3 times a week 5kms. I have more energy...I am eating and sleeping better.  Over all it is has re-energized me...you must walk before you can run is a good saying!!

I learnt to believe in myself again! That with some hard work and dedication I am capable of setting goals and achieving them!

I enjoyed the schedule!  When you have a plan to follow I find that I can focus on each run and it helps me get closer to the final goal.  It kept me on track and focused.  I enjoyed running with the group once a week as it was a time to re-group and talk about any issues with the others and also to get motivated if iw as having a hard week.

Karlijn was a fantastic coach!  She has a positive attitude, very  caring and encouraging.  She made sure we were all on track and helped us if we had any difficulties.  Always asking questions and was there for us the whole time.

The most rewarding for me, was running 5km and knowing I can do  more!  I will continue to run and will work on achieving new goals that I have set for myself.

I will encourage others to join this program as it helps you achieve the start to a fitness regime but you also set goals and are part of a team!" Louella

Start to run

I have never been a runner and wanted to take on the challenge.

Also, I practice regular yoga and I walk a lot, but I don't do a lot of cardiovascular activity and I was interested in observing the effect / the impact of such activity on my body and mind.

What was the biggest hurdle and how did you get over it?

I had days when I really did not feel like running and it was hard to get myself to do it, but I just pushed myself. I was determined to complete the 14 weeks and do the 5 kilometre run.

I don't enjoy the running itself, particularly the first 10 minutes, but I like the feeling afterwards. Also, I was determined to reach the goal.

I feel really good after running, I feel physically stronger and fitter, I feel like I have more energy. Mentally, I feel more focussed and I feel like my short-term memory has improved.

I have learned that I can achieve whatever (realistic) goal I set for myself as long as I stay motivated and determined.

I like that  starts easy and builds up gradually. I enjoyed running with the other women in the group on Monday. I like running in a beautiful park.

I felt that the role of the coach was to encourage and stimulate everyone to keep on going.

The most rewarding part of my running life is the good feeling I get afterwards and also feeling generally more fit and energetic.

Depending on what their uncertainties were, I would recommend this program to anyone looking to feel more fit, energetic and focussed. To anyone feeling lethargic or turning in circles, I would recommend it as a jump-start.” - Clara

Start to run

I decided to start because I had stopped to run for the last two years and I wanted to start again.

Motivation came along with all nice participants.

I learned about myself what I aleady knew, I love to do sports with a team.

I liked that the programm was really easy and when it got more intense it was smoothly

Working with a coach is always a benefit, as it is an extra motivation, on top of the group participants

The most rewarding is to be able to say: I did it!

I would say come on and join, it's really easy and fun!” Christine

Start to run

"For years I wanted to learn how to run as this is one of a few work outs you can do almost everywhere. I tried often and failed often. But I kept on trying and improving slowly .. very slowly. I was ready to try again.

The biggest hurdle for me was to overcome my fear of failing yet again, my fear of getting injured yet again. By focusing on others in the group during the first couple of runs, I kept myself from focusing on my own fears. The slow pace definitely helped me to stay injured free and kept me going. I am so grateful to Edwige that she kept her own pace no matter what.

My running mates have kept me motivated - we were the slow ones in the back, but we kept on going and we ran 3x/week together on our own pace.

Thanks to this program, not only do I feel I can run 5k, I also found new friends who can keep me motivated to keep on going, and I know now that I can do it.

I learned that I need to decrease my pace to be able to go for the long trem goal. I learned to enjoy the running and I learn the importance of having running mates. I definitely liked the approach of the exercise plan, running in group once a week and then getting the puch to run more often. I like the little talk and debrief after our Monday run.

The coach was FANTASTIC! Keep on going Karlijn! You changed a couple of lives here!

The most rewarding part of my is that I enjoy the run :) I am not at the point that I 'need' to run, nor that my body is requesting me to work out. But I feel much better after every run - physically and mentally. And it just gives me a little push every time I go out to run.

Everybody can do this program! Don't stress yourself, and just try. It's all in the pace :)" Chantal

Karlijn, I just wanted to thank you again for your "start to run" program. I did it last year with you and I have never looked back! You changed my life! I run 5km about 5 times a week every morning. I feel so much better! I have more energy and better outlook on life. I wake up everyday looking forward to my early morning run. Thanks again for making this a possibility for me. I never thought I could be a "runner"!

Though I don't feel like being a runner, and I don't run as much - my life definitely changed for the better thanks to Karlijn De Broeck and her Start to Run program. I am able to run, I keep on going as much as I can, and I feel more energetic and healthy. Thank you Karlijn!

Let's hear it for Karlijn, who turned me into a runner too! Diana I'm so impressed! I'm feeling much healthier, calmer, and energetic and none of this would have happened without Karlijn! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
